Overview
Nodes is a powerful, lightweight, and user-friendly mini program in WeChat. As a mind mapping tool, it allows you to create, organize, share, and collect mind maps in WeChat and save them to the cloud. It also provides a neat solution for exporting mind maps to images, so that you can view them in your cellphone photo album, or send them to your PC via File Transfer in WeChat.
1.Update your WeChat to the latest version
Open WeChat.
- For Android users
Please go to Me —> Setting —> About —> Check for Updates.
- For iPhone users Please update WeChat to the latest version in App Store.
2.Use WeChat to scan the mini program code to launch Nodes
3. Get familiar with the UI (user interface)

4. Start to draw your first mind map on WeChat
4.1 Create new subtopics
- Hold the central topic until you see a curve line from the central topic.
- While pressing the central topic, drag the curve line to a blank area.
- Release to create a new subtopic.
4.2 Rename topics
- Tap the topic you want to rename.
- Nodes will automatically clear all the content.
- Type in a new name.
- Tap done on the keyboard or tap the blank area of the screen to rename the topic.
4.3 Delete topics
- Tap the topic you want to delete.
- Nodes will automatically clear all the content.
- Tap done or the blank area of the screen to delete the subtopic.
4.4 Rearrange topics
- Drag a subtopic quickly and move it to the blank area to rearrange subtopics under the same main topic.
- Drag topic A to join topic B, when a box with dotted outline appears, release topic A, then topic A will become a subtopic of topic B.
4.5 Zoom in or out
Use your fingers to pinch the screen. Pan to see other parts of the mind map.
5. Share your mind map with your friends
5.1 Share your mind map via Nodes mini program link
- After completing a mind map, tap the "More" button, then choose Share_with_Friends.
- Select a friend and tap send.
- When your friend tap this mini program link,he or she can view the mind map in Nodes mini program on WeChat.
5.2 Send the image file of your mind map to your friend
- After finishing your mind map, tap the "Export" button to export your current mind mind to image.
- After a few seconds, tap the "More" button, then Send to Chat in Android. Long press and tap Send to Chat in iOS.
- Select a friend and tap send.
6. Export your mind map to your phone and computer
6.1 Export to your phone photo album
- After finishing your mind map, tap the "Export" button to export current mind map to image.
- After a few seconds, tap the "More" button, then Send to Chat in Android. Long press and tap Send to Chat in iOS.
- You can go to photo album to check this mind map.
6.2 Export to your computer
- After finishing a mind map, tap the "Export" button to export the current mind mind to image.
- After a few seconds, tap the "More" button, then Send to Chat in Android. Long press and tap Send to Chat in iOS.
- Use search bar to locate File Transfer, then select it and tap Send to send the image to a computer.
- Run WeChat on your PC to view the saved mind map.

Q: Why can't WeChat on my phone recognize the mini program code?
A: Mini program requires the latest version of WeChat. The minimal version allowing for the code scan is WeChat 6.5.7.
Q: Why can’t I access Mini Program after installing the latest WeChat?
A: Maybe this is your first time to use Mini Programs in WeChat. 1. Please switch to chats screen. 2. Type "Nodes" in the search bar, and select "Nodes" from the search results. 3. Tap "Nodes" to launch. 4. After running a mini program for the first time, the mini program is always visible in the discover screen.
Q: Why can't I access mini program on my iPad?
A: WeChat for iPad currently doesn't provide the entrance to mini programs. If you are a iOS user, please use iPhone to run mini programs in WeChat.
Q: How can I find Nodes mini program without scanning its mini program code?
A:
- Directly searching the name of the mini program
- Update your WeChat to the latest version. Go to Discover —> Mini Programs.
- Search for "Nodes" on the mini program list.
- Find Nodes in the search result and tap to launch Nodes.
- From sharing in a group or directly from a friend
- From scanning a QR code with WeChat
Q: Why does the image file of my mind map look blurry when zoomed in?
A: In the current version, Nodes cannot the export mind map to .SVG format and WeChat will compress the image file. So, it's expected that the image looks burry, especially on the high-resolution retina displays.
Q: How to avoid the text ghosting(shadowing) issue when drawing a mind map?
A: The text shadowing issue is expected on some Android phones due to the lack of a specific official API from WeChat. This issue will be fixed around June.
Q: If I delete Nodes from the mini program list on my WeChat, will I lose all the mind maps I've created?
A: Your mind maps are stored in the cloud even after Nodes is removed on WeChat. These mind maps are synced to WeChat when Nodes is restored.
Q: Why can't I add Nodes to desktop?
A: Currently only Android users can add WeChat mini program to desktop. To do so, open Nodes; tap the "More"button and choose Add to Desktop.
Q: How can I reduce faulty operations when creating new subtopics?
A: Please prolong the time you hold the central topic a little bit(2s-3s).
Q: How to avoid faulty operations when I zoom in or out the mind map?
A: Please make sure that your fingers don't touch the subtopics when you zoom in or out the mind map. We suggest you zoom in or out in the blank area of the screen.
Q: Why does Nodes sometimes mistake my intention of moving subtopics for creating subtopics?
A: You need to drag quickly to move a subtopic. If your finger stays on the subtopic a bit longer, Nodes will recognize this operation as creating new subtopics.
